Portraits For Charity

A couple of weeks ago my sister & brother in law were in the middle of an adoption, waiting for a 17 year old girl to give birth. We were at a funeral of all places & she got a call from the 17 year old’s mother telling her they had changed their mind and were keeping the baby…this all happened a day after they called my sister & tried to get her to ‘buy’ the baby. A day or 2 later the 17 year old went into labor and gave birth to a little boy.

My sister & her husband were broken hearted, to them this felt just the same as if they had lost a child. They had a pretty rough week or so but have since decided to pursue in vitro so they can have a baby of their own. We are all pulling together in any way we can to help raise the $14,000 needed to complete the procedure.

We started with a yard sale last weekend and were able to raise about $500. There will be 2 more yard sales in the coming weeks and we are accepting donations for things to sell so clean out your basement & garage and help us out!

On September 12th there will be a silent auction & raffle.  We are getting tons of great donations, including a complete bathroom remodel, free teeth whitening trays & many others. Anybody interested in participating in the raffle, silent auction or donating prizes should contact me.

So about Portraits for Charity…

I am going to help out by doing family portraits & donating the cash proceeds. I will do as many pictures as you want for up to 1 hour on site anywhere in the valley. Some of the better places to take pictures are at Wheeler Farm, Murray Park, Butterfield Canyon or downtown Salt Lake for an ‘urban portrait’. I will be taking donations for everything but am asking for $50/session for up to 12 people. I would appreciate more for larger groups, but the amount is up to you. I will include a CD of all images & can help with ordering prints if needed, although you are free to do your own prints anywhere you wish.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
